We took Owen on his first walk around the neighborhood tonight - just up to the end of the street and back. We haven't mentioned this on the blog yet - but Owen was born during our first (and maybe only) heat wave of the summer. It's been pretty hot and humid. But, tonight it cooled down quite a bit and was rather nice out. We stopped by so that Owen could meet Ellis, the pretty blond (one-year old) girl that lives across the street. Owen seemed to really enjoy the ride around the neighborhood, but he didn't seem like it when we stopped walking.
We were trying to tire him out a little. The only trouble we've been having with him is that he is the most energetic at night - particularly between midnight and 4am. He's a night owl - just like his mom. Today, he's been up and awake much more during the day, so we decided to finish it off with a walk to try to keep him up more and tire him out for the evening and night. We'll see how that works. For the past few nights, we've been taking care of him in shifts, which seems to be working: Phil has been taking the early shift until about 2am, with Kathleen and her mom filling in after that. Hopefully, we'll be able to shift him into sleeping more at night rather than during the day.
